Hello Everyone,
My great great aunt Maria (born 30 November 1837) was born illegitimately. The is an extensive note in the parents section of her birth record that I would appreciate help reading. I have attached the image and here is the link to the record:
Toresund (D) C:3 (1822-1860) Image 49 (AID: \newurl{http://www.arkivdigital.se/aid/info/v62339.b49,v62339.b49} \link{http://arkivdigital.se/aid/show/v62339.b49,Open}, NAD: \newurl{http://sok.riksarkivet.se/?postid=Arkis%209446c1d8-49d8-11d5-a6ed-0002440207bb&s=Balder,SE/ULA/11558}
Tack så mycket!

It says:
Stenby /name of village/
Maid Eva Lars' Daughter
Her fiancé Carl Gust. Stare /or Stared/ acknowledges being the child's father.
Churched as Stare's wife.
The last column gives the names of the four baptismal witnesses, two male and two female.

Thanks Ingemar! Can you explain what being "Churched as Stare's wife" means?
-
"Churching" is the word used on Wikipedia for "the ceremony wherein a blessing is given to mothers after recovery from childbirth". This ceremony was mandatory within the Swedish Church until 1850, but was not finally abolished until 1986.within the Swedish Church until 1850 but was not finally abolished until 1986.

Tack så mycket Ingemar!

Hi Kelly! I forgot to give you a complete answer re "Churched as Stare's wife". This probably means that Eva Larsdotter and Carl Stare had married during the six weeks that were to follow between childbirth and "churching".

Thank you so much Ingemar. You've taught me a lot. That will make finding their marriage record much easier. Thank you again!
