I'm looking for information my great-grandfather.  He was born in Haganas on April 4, 1875.  He emingrated somewhere between 1891 and 1903.  I have been told his father was Peter Larson and his mother was Kate Anderson.  I don't know if he had any brothers, when he left Sweden, or if he came with anyone. If you look at the head line you can see that his name was Andrew Larsson och Peterson. I would say that would be Anders Larsson och Anders Petersson in Sweden.

The next step is to check the church records for Nås, which you can do at your closest Family History Center.

And as I tried birth records for Höganäs at www.ddss.nu without a match (also parish of Väsby) it ought to be another town/parish than that.

How about Häggenås parish, Östersund, Jämtland?
I can't find anything that fits in 1880/1890 census at Arkion though...

I would think that the man I found is the right one, as he may have been born in the village of Haga, parish of Nås, which might be combined into Haganas in the US. Notice that he at least emigrated from there.

If you are very lucky, Sue, you might be related to the actor Kris Kristoffersson, who's ancestors came from the same small parish!
It really looks that Elisabeth got your great grandfather, as Janis is a farm name used in the province of Dalarna, and Per is his father's christian name that can be translated to Peter. Kerstin is a variety of Christina, and could be transformed to Kate. Her last name Andersdotter (Andrew's daughter) is a patronymic, often transformed to Andersson to harmonize with her brothers patronymic at late 1800's.

Oh my gosh.  Elisabeth found him.  I'm dumbstruck. I read her article concerning Dalarna. How do I go into the Family History Center to check the church records for Nas?  It's my understanding from what you wrote that he had no siblings.  I have his family tree from the time he came here forward if anyone would ever want it.  Do I post it somewhere?  I am so grateful.  Thank you.
