I found out they were actually Lago, and my great grandfather changed his name to Lager when he went to America.
Mainly from Vrigstad, Sweden...
If anyone else out there knows of the Lago's or is related please email me!

Oh, I had one more question...One brother that I have a birthdate listed as 1871 (in 1922 he was 51 years old) is not listed could this be because he was probably 19 and out of the house at the time of the census?
And how would I find out more information on the family?
Thanks
Karri

opps one more thing I dont have the sister born in 1973 listed, on Gustaf's list of siblings he gave for his life insurance policy in 1922. Could this mean this is not the same family? That would be strange because all the other names match.

Hi again Karri

In the census 1890 there was 54 Laga, one of them in Halland county Albertina Lago born 1854, three in Östergötland county Charlotta Lago born 1849, Hedda Kristina Lago born 1855 and Isra?l Lago born 1827. The rest of them in Jönköping county.

Do you have the name on the man born 1871?
About Hulda Charlotta maybe she died young?
I did not found her 1970.

Regards
Berith

Hi Karri! I have put a long answer to your questions regarding the Lago and Hafström families under Anbytarforum: Landskap: Småland: Socknar: Vrigstad.

As both Gustaf Adolf Lago and his future wife  Sonja Maria Hafstöm were from the parish of Vrigstad I think that the possibility for future contacts with possible relatives is higher under that discussion.

It's very useful for possible researchers of this family to know that he changed his name from Lago (probably a soldier's name) here in Sweden to Lager in the US.

If you have information on were he ended up and where his sisters ended up in the US, I'm sure that such information would be welcome under the Vrigstad heading.

Kind regards,
Eva Dahlberg

I believe the brother listed in the 1922 insurance policy I have for Gustaf and Sonja name is Axel, he is listed as bro 51 good health. I have a picture that Gust probably sent Sonja before he brought her over her written in Swedish that Says This my dear is me and brother Axel. I assumed that this was HIS brother Axel, and the brother born in 1871. I know that he had 5 sisters 2 brothers plus himself was 8 children with the one brother dying at age 15 from a broken back from falling from a horse, in 1892, he was the one born in 1878. About Hulda, I do not know about any other of them dying young. In the Insurance policy I have found it lists all the sisters as living with the youngest being born in 1893. This is the only record that doesnt match but the youngest sister would not have been born yrt in the 1890 census. Did u do a search in 1970 Records? You mentioned 1970. Maybe she died before then.
I only have records on the 3 Gustaf, Anna and Ottilia her in the USA.
I appreciate all your help, it has been a blessing!

Hi Karri, All this information regarding the brother Axel are already placed under the Vrigstad heading I refer to. Also the dates regarding the brother that died young (one of your years was off, as also for the youngest sister).

Berith must have done some miscalculation, as Hulda would have been 97 in 1970, the reference is to a recent CD (brand new) listing people living in Sweden in 1970, so she would have been old to be able to find her. So she could have lived to a farily high age. On the death cd, as I mention under Vrigstad, I didn't find Hulda or the other siblings (not even the youngest), as names don't appear before 1970 on that cd (so also the new 1970 cd doesn't help in this case). There are 53 women that are born the same day as Hulda who die between 1950 and 1970, so you need to know where she lived if she is one of them.

I recommended you under Vrigstad to send an e-mail to the parish office, as none of this information is available in the public domain for us volunteers.

Kind regards,
Eva Dahlberg

Thank you, I thought that maybe she was not mentioned because of the stigma around her of the birth out of wedlock.
How do I send and E-mail to the Parish office of Vrigstad? is it on Rötter? I will do that if u can direct me how...
Thanks again,
Karri
