I have two ancestors of Swedish ethnicity but born in Finland that have the word GÄSTGIFVARS after their name. Can anyone tell me what this means?

My dictionary suggests innkeeper, (inn-)landlord
Roy

It is a family name known from Finland and Dalarna. Most likely its origin is the name of a farm and the reason for the name of the farm was that it at some time was owned by an innkeeper. Gästgivare means innkeeper so Gästgifvars (old spelling) is short for Innkeeper's farm.
