Looking to verify the Christening of Eric Matsson son of Mats Pålsson and Karin Ersdotter. Eric was born in Wästerud, Brattfors Parish, Värmlands Län.
I am trying to verify the following record.
I can make out some information such as:
Location - Brattfors,
Christening - 3 December,
Matts Pålsson - father.
I think I see other names such as Matts Ersson and Marit Jönsdotter. I am just not sure.
Any help on reading the record would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The first line is: 3e Decemb Döptes Mattes Påhlsons barn i Wästerudh kallat Ericus
I.e Matts Pålson's in Wästerud child Eric was christened 3rd December
Then follow the godfathers (g.f.):
Simon Månson, Lars Hinderson, "dreng" Mattes Erson, Halfvard Månson
and the godmothers (g.m.):
wife Kierstin [no patronymic], wife Maritt Jönsdotter, Ellicka Ersdotter, Kierstin Påhlsdotter
all in Wästerud
If one looks up "dräng" in a Swedish-English dictionary it says "farm-hand, but that doesn't cover the full meaning of the word. It was used about a man working for another not only in farming.

Harold,
Thanks for the quick response. Would there be a reason why the mother was not listed?

It's rather common in records from that time, that the mother's name is not given. The father's name is given because he was the head of the family. It was probably seen as self-evident that the mother was the wife of the father.

Great. Thanks again Harold for the quick response. I learn something new about this everyday.
