Would like some help, if possible, looking at military records for an ancestor of mine. I have very little Swedish but I can make do. The ancestor's name was Zacharias Täcklind (1773-1829). He lived in Kristianstad.

Hi!
What makes you suspect that he was in the military?
'Täcklind' does not sound like the traditional military names.
Best regards,

Zacharias Täcklind was fanjunkare (Staff Sergeant/Sergeant First Class) at Skånska Dragonregementet.
He started his career in 1790 and died 1829 in Degeberga.
He got a medal for bravery and a pension in 1823.

Håkan, I don't a lot about military naming customs, but I do know they were often localized. In a history of Degeberga, it is mentioned that some thought Täcklind was from Swedish Finland, possibly Åbo.
Thanks for the wealth of information, Eva!
Cheers,
