Hello Garth,
How come you are sure about Alexander beeing the father of your great grandmother? She must have been born out of wedlock and these fathers an not usually easy to trace. ;
The Alexander you have found in the household examination records for the Estate Johannesberg in Flisby Johannesberg is not a city was the son of the soldier Magnus Topp in Flisby. Alexander was born Dec 12, 1833 in the soldier cottage nr 130.

Alexander himself wasnt a soldier. He served at the estate Johannesberg first as a farm hand and later as a servant. He signed himself out of Flisby parish as betjänt=servant J A Sjöstrand in 1855.
This was his first job, he left his parents in 1852 to serv at Johannesberg. He could not have signed as a soldier in between.
He probably got his name Sjöstrand because of his status as a servant. You can see that in the household examination record.
He was first registered as Johannes Alexander Magnisson father Magnus which have been changed to Sjöstrand. The minister moved him to the next line... and gave him a wrong birth year...;

The remarks are not at the picture. You have to look at Flisby Hfl AI:8 GID 221.14.23800 Genline

There are lots of information written in the remark column for him - but I cannot read it, it is too dark. Maybe someone else can help?!
I cannot help you any further - I can only wish you Good Luck in your future research!
Regards
Monica
