This is from the church records. I have also checked the database Emihamn, which is based on the Passenger lists, but could not find him there, so it is not possible to tell which port he left from or his destination.
The majority of emigrants went through the port of Göteborg (Gothenburg) to England on a smaller steamer, then by rail to Liverpool and got on the bigger Atlantic steamers. This whole thing took about 2 or 3 weeks, so you could start looking for him in the middle of October in the American lists.
