Thank you!  Misterhult has come up in some other research.  I will check it out.

2
Thank you for the information that you found.  Sophia may have been from Viserum but I haven't located anything on her.

Sophia and Nils are my 7th generation ancestors.  I am looking for their dates of birth, marriage and death.  Year of birth is probably about 1724.  Nils was in the Kalmar Regemente in 1770.  see Generalmönsterrullor - Kalmar regemente (F, G, H) 410 (1770) Image 35 (AID: v60222.b35, NAD: SE/KrA/0023).  Their son, Nils Nilsson Fast, was born in Massemåla, Högsby, Kalmar on 2/16/1764, but I have not found them in the household examination books.  See Högsby (H) CI:3 (1752-1815) Image 56 / Page 105 (AID: v39049.b56.s105, NAD: SE/VALA/00160) for Nils Fast's birth record.   I appreciate any leads that you can find.

Thank you, Maud.  I find that Stockholm records are harder to search.  You filled a blank in my family tree

Kind regards,

I am looking for Maria Charlotta Johansson's date and place of death.  She was born Dec 4 1829 in Örebro, Sweden.  Name at birth was Svanberg.  The last entry that I found was in Hedvig Eleonora,1869 with her husband Carl Johan Johansson.  v85444.b1620.s179.  Her husband Carl was listed as a widow when he died on 12/25/1884. v85677.b358.s354, so death would be between 1869-1884.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you, Thomas.  Your information saved me from heading down a wrong path.  Here is the source to her husband's death record.

Bäckaby / Helena Hansdotter birth record
« skrivet: 2023-10-27, 01:12 »
I am looking for Helena Hansdotter's birth record.  She died    in Våghalsen, Bäckaby, Jönköping on March 1, 1792 and her death record said she was born in 1736 (Bäckaby-F-C-3-1739-1804-Image-196-Page-375).  The only Helena that I find is born in 1734 but her father is Pehr Sandberg (Bäckaby-F-C-2-1715-1739-Image-28-Page-49).  Could this be her?  I find Pehr as a soldier in the general muster rolls, so could this be her father's military name?  I do not find a Helena or Lena with the father's name of Hans.  Thanks for your help.

Thank you Bo Persson for your reply.

Bo Lindwall, in your research into Kisa marriages, do you have a record of the marriage date of Sven Mauritzson to Kerstin Andersdotter?  Dates mentioned are 1770, which would only make her 14 years old, to 1774, since their first child was born in 1775.

thank you for y our help.

Thank you Anders,

I was not sure if it was just my lack of ability to read old Swedish handwriting.  I will look in the Bou to see if it is listed there.  1774 makes more sense than 1770.

Best wishes,

Bob

Hej Anders,

I am descended from their daughter Anna Maja.  She married Carl Trybom from Tryserum.  The family eventually moved to Norrkoping.  Their daughter was Elisabeth, born 1823.  Elisabeth's son was Carl Fredrik Trybom (father unknown), who was my farmor Alice's father.

I have a question about Sven and Kerstin's marriage.  The Household book (Kisa (E) AI:2 (1805-1810) Image: 205 Page: 39) shows they were married in 1770 but Kerstin was born in 1756.  That seems very young.  Do you know their actual date of marriage?  I did not see them listed in Kisa's marriage records for 1770 and several year later.

Thank you for the information and the explanation of Bou.

I appreciate this information.  Kerstin and Sven are my direct ancestors.  So, Kerstin born 1756 would be correct?  I was making the same mistake as Anders.  What is Bou?  It does not translate into a word in English.  I would like to also confirm the information through Arkiv Digital.  Thanks.

Åke,

I am very touched about your recollection of my grandmother Alice.  She lived to be 96 years old and I am her oldest grandchild.  Her trip to Sweden in 1950 was because her mother Johanna Trybom f. Petersson was dying.  I was born while she was away.

Your uncle Harald was her true love.  I have several pictures of the two of them together, as well as cards from him and Hanna and Tora.  I know that she kept in touch with Tora.  I have her old address book with Tora's address in it.   My grandmother told me that your uncle had surgery for his bleeding ulcers and during the operation the surgeon cut Harald's aorta and he bled to death.   Alice kept Harald's burial service invitation to the day that she died.  I inherited these photos and papers from my father when he died.  If you would like me to email these pictures to you, I will.  Just message me with your email address.  I also have pictures who I suspect may be Hanna and Tora but I do not know for sure.

Alice had a brother Harald, who moved to America in 1908.  When he was first living there he lived with my grandfather's aunt and uncle, Mathilda and John Jensen.  Mathilda was my farfar mor's sister (Anna Lovisa Nord).  Harald Trybom a woman named Susan Bates from Scotland and they had several children.  His wife left him at one point and Harald asked Alice to come to America to help him with the children.  Since your uncle had died the previous year, Alice moved to America to help her brother.

I do not know how my grandparents met each other because my grandmother said that she did not meet my grandfather Harold until coming to America.  However, Harold's sister, Sigrid Eriksson only lived two blocks from my grandmother, so they may have known each other.  I suspect that her brother introduced them, since by 1910 Harold Carlson (American spelling) lived with the Jensen family, along with several Nord cousins, another aunt and Harald Trybom.

Alice married Harold Carlson in 1923.  My father Harold was born in 1925 and Dagny in 1927.  Harold was in the American army during WWI and he was gassed.  His lungs were weak and he developed tuberculosis and died in 1931.  Alice returned to Sweden with my father and aunt for several months.  It was long enough that Dagny forgot how to speak English when they returned to America.

I am glad that you wrote Åke.  I feel like I have reached family.

Thank you Ingemar!  I did not know that Calle was a nickname for Carl.  That accounts for all of the names on the card to my grandfather.

Thanks Åke and Leif,  in American English this phrase might translate to "found a job" or "started working".  Signe was the only other sibling to move to America, so this line probably refers to her.  The other information that you found are my grandparents, father and aunt.   My grandfather died when my father was only six years old.  He believed that all of his aunts and uncles, except Dagmar, died in childhood.  However, Åke, you sent me some information on Sigrid and Dagmar recently, showing they married.  I am trying to learn more about the others.  I know that Knut apparently survived to adulthood but I do not know if he ever married, had children or when he died.  I think that maybe the information on Signe's Flyttningsbetyg will help me track down where she went in America and I can pick up the search from here.

Thanks for the help that you have given me.

Leif, perhaps my grandfather meant "first arrived".  If Signe left her home in Norrkoping  on 28 October 1901, it may have taken two months to arrive in America.  Most of my relatives crossed over from England and there were delays in traveling.

Thanks, Åke,  I wonder if "the first place" means the first time in America.  Maybe she moved back to Sweden?  I don't know what happened to her.  I think from the next line she died in 1906 but I do not know where.

My grandfather, Harold Karlsson wrote a list of family members.  I cannot make out what seems to be his aunt's name.  I am looking at the bottom entry for his sister Signe.  It reads:
Signe Mathilde Karlson born 1 January 1884
To America 28 October 1902
Forsta "this is the word that I cannot read" 6 January 1902.
I know that his mother's sister was Mathilda Kristina Jensen.  Could the missing word be some form of her name?
I am also looking for the information for Signe's Flyttningsbetyg.
Thank you for your help.

My apologies for submitting to quickly.  Signe was the daughter of Johan August Karlsson, who died 10 April 1900 in Norrkoping.  Shortly after that she moved to Norra (Fors?) and, from my grandfather's note, moved to America on 28 October 1902.

Once more thank you Åke.  Lina took care of her mother Charlotta, who lived until 1914 and died at the age of 91. My grandmother lived with Lina until she moved to America in 1918.  I think she spent much of her life as a caretaker for her family, so I am not surprised that she married late.  I am more surprised that she married at all.

Thank you Åke again for filling in my family history.  I thought his name was Carl but I was not positive and I did not know anything about his parents.  This is very helpful.  Also thank you for the information on my grandmother's aunt.  I thought that Karolina never married but your information said she was widowed and her married name was Karlsson.  Do you have information on who her husband was?  I would be interested in his name, date of birth and death, and if they had any children.

Åke,
Thank you for the information.  My farfar died when my far was a boy, so I have little information about his family.  I thought Sigrid had other children because I have a Christmas card from her to my grandfather that ends fran alla, Sigrid Oscar Anna Lisa, Dagmar and Calle.  It is a coincidence that they lived at Sodra St Persgatan 2.  My farmor Alice lived at Sodra St Persgatan 32 but she did not meet my grandfather until she moved to America.

Thank you for your help.  I will be sure to post more questions soon.

I am looking for information about my grandfather's (farfar) two sisters, who stayed in Sweden.  Sigrid Lovisa Carlsson, f 12/9/1886 in Norrkoping, Hedvig.  She had a daughter, Sigrid Anna Lisa f. 17/2/1913 in Norra Förs Örebro län and married Oscar Olof Eriksson f. 19/9/1884 in St. Mellösa Örebro län.  They may have had two other children, Dagmar and Calle.  Any information on when they died and information on the three children is appreciated.

The second sister was Dagmar Hildegard Carlson, f. 30/1/1895 in Hedvig.  I have a death notice for Dagmar Eriksson, f. 29/1/1895, dod 4/3/1980 in Norrkoping and listing Anita, Bo, Per and Lise-Lott.  Any information on her husband, date of marriage, children is appreciated.  Thank you all.

Hej Marjett,  I know this is an old post but I am a new member.  My grandmother (farmor) was a Trybom from Norrkoping.  She had an older brother, Harold Frederick Olof Trybom, f. 4/12/1883 in Norrkoping, Sankt Olai parish.  He moved to America in 1903, returned to Sweden and then moved to America again in 1908, so he would have been in Norrkoping at the time for your grandmother to be conceived.  His father was Carl Filip Ferdinand Trybom, f. 12/12/1855 and Johanna Augusta Petersson f. 18/12/1857.  Let me know if you think this is a good lead and I will send more family information to you.
