Thanks very much...this information will surely help in the search.  This guy is very good at hiding somewhere in the United States...I hope he can be found.  Smiles, Yvonne Pihlstrom Morehouse

Johan left Nordman, Sweden for the USA on 29 Apr 1892.  In 1900, Johan/John was single and living in Hallock Village, Kittson County, Minnesota.  He may have died in the USA (old family record) on 11 Jan 1951.  Other than that and in spite of a lot of searching, we cannot find John.   Do any of you Swedish researchers have information, a clue and/or an idea?  Many thanks, Yvonne Pihlstrom Morehouse.   roadcross4@gmail.com

Marik:  Didn't see your reply until today, June 14, 2018.  I thank you very much.  Yvonne

Many, many thanks for this very fast reply.  I've spent a lot of time searching for more information on this relative and can find nothing.  Now, I know he used his adoptive father's name so that's a big help.  I very much appreciate your kind reply.  Yvonne Morehouse

Sture, born on 30 Nov 1911 at  Kungsholm eller Ulrika Eleonora, Stockholm (mother Elsa Viktoria Andersson) was adopted by a Mr. Ahlgren in 1919.  Is there anyone who knows who "Mr. Ahlgren" was?  If it helps, Sture later married Berta Dorotea Söderberg, also born in Kungsholm.   I cannot find a "Sture Arnold Andersson" nor a "Sture Arnold Ahlgren" in any records.  I appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me.  Thank you.  Yvonne Pihlstrom Morehouse    email:  roadcross4@gmail.com

I hope someone can send me the names, date and place of birth of the children born Erik Jansson and his wife, Olga Charlotta Persson, b. 19 Mar 1904 in Skyttfallet.  These persons are related to my Swedish family and I'm having a dickens of a time trying to find the children.

Many thanks, Yvonne Morehouse (roadcross4@gmail.com)

I hadn't thought one could "sign up to leave Sweden" and then not do it but perhaps that is what happened.  Thanks so much for the information, Mats.

Thank you, thank you Mats.  I very much appreciate this help--it's really for two older Swedish relatives and they'll be so happy to have it.  I'm minus one fact related to this family, which I hope can be found.   August Ludvig Albin Boström married one of Karl's daughters.  August left Sweden, went to the U.S. (see below) and returned to Sweden.   But, for the life of me, I can't find the date he returned to his home country but I know for certain it was before 6 March 1919.   I much appreciate your kind help.  Yvonne

I would very much appreciate information on August Ludgvig Boström, August's parents, his wife, Elsa Viktoria Andersson, b. 18 Jul 1890 at Adolf Fredrik and his two sisters.

August's sisters are: Alma Alfonsina Elisabet Boström b. 1884 and Signhild Vilhelmina Boström b. 25 May 1887 at Adolf Fredrick.  Signhild married Erik Vilhelm Lindholm, b. 6 Sep 1887 at Eskilstuna, Södrmanlands län.  Signhild and Erik had one son that I know of.  He is Per Erik Lindholm b. 17 Mar 1923 at Matteus, Stockholm.

August's father and mother are Anders Ludvig Boström (I have no other information on Anders) and Carolina Matilda Jonsson b. about 1850.

I have found information that August was arrested, at least once.  Here's the pertinent information:

Karl-Johan:  I cannot thank you enough for providing this wonderful information.  It gives me a bit of insight into Alida's background and hopefully, I can do a better job of finding her in her early years in America.  I've been searching for about a week for Amanda as well, and wonder if she returned to Sweden as there (so far) is no trace of her.  If you would like more information on the children of this family, I'll be happy to share with you.  Please feel free to contact me at y.morehouse@comcast.net   Thank you, thank you.   Smiles, Yvonne

Hello:  I would greatly appreciate help regarding Alida Josefina Andersdotter b. 10 Aug 1886, in Barne-Åsaka, Skaraborg.  Her parents are Anders Johansson b. 21 Nov 1840 at Stora Flöttorp, Barne Åsaka, Västra Götaland.  Anders died 10 Oct 1887.  Anders wife is Kristina Johansdotter b. 26 Nov 1847 at Stomsbotten, Barne Åsaka, Västra Götaland.  Mother Kristina died 17 Mar 1931 at Lokulla.  I understand Alida disappeared from the farm in about 1900.  Could anyone tell me what happened to her?  Did she marry in Sweden?  Alida emigrated to the United States--could anyone find that date, please?  Her older sisters, Selma (b. 24 Apr 1879) and Amanda (b. 24 Nov. 1881) emigrated together to the U.S. in 1901 on the ship Rollo.  I greatly appreciate any help and information you can provide.  Also, Amanda disappears after she gets to the United States...did she return to Sweden?
Thank you, Yvonne Morehouse

Bo:  I signed back into this site today and saw the new information related to Amanda.  I want to thank you for this additional and most welcome bit of history on the family.  Too bad for me that we didn't know about Harry Karl so we could have talked to him about his ancestors.  Yvonne

Thank you, Bo.  You have put in a lot of research time and skills which I appreciate very much.  I'm going to follow up on this information and hope with the excellent help of the Swedes on this site that I can put together this family.  Happy New Year, everyone.  Yvonne

Thanks, Judy and Arne.  Your information adds to my knowledge about this couple.  Judy, I'm pleased to have a little information on Amanda's life and employment.  As to your questions:  in the 1900, 1910  and 1920 U.S. Censuses Peter says he and his father (who may be named August) and mother were born in Sweden.  Peter also reports he immigrated in 1888.  I don't have access to immigration records so I can't see when Peter left Sweden or Norway (although, he apparently emigrated from Stockholm) with, perhaps, a different wife and four children.  (A side note:  in the 1900 U.S. Census, daughter Mary, age 16, is listed as a boarder with an Andrew and Ingebor Ellested.)  In the 1920 U.S. Census Peter says he immigrated in 1889. In the 1900 Census, Peter states he and Amanda have been married for 9 years.

In the 1905 Minnesota Territorial and State Census Peter says he and his parents were born in Sweden.  But, in the 1930 U.S. Census Peter states he was born in Norway.  And, thanks to a Swedish researcher's sharp eyes, I now know Amanda was Peter's second marriage (as per the 1910 U.S. Census).  Son Amandus (identified as Mandus in 1905 Minnesota Territorial Census) states he was born in Norway. My previous thought was this was a census taker's mistake...maybe not.

At this point, I think Peter's first four children belonged to a wife from Norway!  The Norwegian children are: Anton born in 1882, Mary born March 1885, Anna Emily born in June 1887, and Amandus (or Mandus) born in September 1889.  I just now sent away for Peter's death certificate in the hope it will shed more light and, I'm looking for Peter's obituary in Todd County, Minnesota.  I have no idea where to start looking for Peter in Norway.

Arne, thanks for your time and effort on this Hultgren mystery and, certainly, for the picture of the Hultgren headstone.  I'm very grateful for you and Judy's help.  Yvonne

Peter August Hultgren, born about 1853, married Amanda Sophia Roxtröm about 1891.  Amanda is from Rumhult, Hannäs Parish, Östergötland, Sweden.  She was born 14 Sep 1860 (her parents are Karl Peter Roxtröm born 1832 and Anna Lisa Nilsdotter born 1830.  The children born in Sweden are:  Anton born 1882, Mary born 1885, Anna born 1887 and Amandus born 1889.  I believe the family emigrated in 1889 to Minnesota.  If anyone has more information on Peter and/or the children, I would surely appreciate receiving it.

I thank you,  Yvonne Morehouse
