General questions / Transcription and translation help
« skrivet: 2018-06-25, 21:53 »
I am hoping someone experienced in reading old records could look at entry #3 in the illegitimate births for Svea livgardes grenadjärbataljons  17 Oct 1728 (Hans).
https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0055603_00157?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=0#?cv=156&z=-69.5134%2C1365.3199%2C3896.6667%2C2780.536

Particularly the notes in the far right column and the added notes referring to page 189.  Is that reference to the same birth book?

Thanks for any help,
Art Berggreen

Svea livgarde / Nils Hansson Bargren
« skrivet: 2016-08-03, 01:59 »
I hope you don't mind questions in English.
I'm trying to find information about Nils Hansson Bargren who was a member of the Svea livgardes grenadjärbataljons in Stockholm.  Around 1728-1730 he was a member of Captain Wrangel's company.  I believe I have found him in the 1728 Generalmönsterrullor (#83, page 1095). I think that entry indicates he enrolled in 1719.  Any help transcribing and translating that entry would be welcome.
Several years ago another forum member said that he had died 18 Feb 1742 in Fredrikshamn (Finland), but I never got a source citation.  The Generalmönsterrullors seem to end about 1740.  What became of the regiments after that year?  Could some have become Finska regiments?

Thanks for any help,

Hello all,

After several years, I'm just getting back into genealogy and restarting the search for the origin of one of my earliest Swedish ancestors.  His name was Nils Hansson Bargren and he was a soldier in the Svea Livgarde.  His marriage record indicates he was a member of Captain Wrangels company.  I just subscribed to arkivdigital.net for online access.  I was never very good transcribing/translating these old Swedish records.

I'd appreciate if someone with experience and access to the Generalmönsterrullor could look at the following and help me understand what is there;
Entry #83

Generalmönsterrullor - Svea livgarde 1126 (1728-1728) Image 5460 / page 1095
(AID: v437265.b5460.s1095, NAD: SE/KrA/0023)

Do I understand that this person was 36 years old at that time and had become a soldier in 1719?

What is the best way to work forward and backward in time looking for this person?

Thanks for any and all help,
Art Berggreen

Archive - Swedish names / Nils Hansson Bargren
« skrivet: 2009-03-09, 06:55 »
I'm trying to find the origins of Nils Hansson Bargren who was a soldier at Svea Livgarde in Stockholm in the early 1700s.  There is a chance that he came from the Goteborg area.  He was probably born around 1682.  Bargren does not seem to be a very common name.

Any help would be appreciated,

Archive - Swedish names / Hans and Johan
« skrivet: 2007-08-01, 04:25 »
I have an ancestor that I mostly find under the given name of Hans.  But I found a baptism entry in the parish records for one of his sons where his name is listed as Johan.  Virtually all other records use Hans. Since Hans is apparently short for Johan or Johannes, would Johan be his actual birth name, or did the priest just make that assumption when writing the record?

I believe that this section is for illegitimate births.
I'd like help reading and translating #3 in 1728, the
birth of son Hans to Nils Bargren.

Thanks for any help,

Hi, I have information that an ancestor lived at Pelarbakken 39, Sødermalm, Stockholm, in the mid 1700s. Their parish was Katarina church, so they must have lived in that area. I cant find any references to it online. Does anyone know where in modern Stockholm that might have been? Art

Archive - General questions / Questions about Combmakers Guild
« skrivet: 2010-09-06, 20:19 »
Would the comb makers in Stockholm in the 18th century have worked out of their homes or out of a shared, guild owned workshop?  Would guild meetings take place at a guild member's home or at some meeting place?  What are the chances finding any guild owned location in modern Stockholm?  We are planning on visiting Stockholm in June 2011.

Hello!  I was hoping that someone could recommend a professional Genealogist in the Stockholm area.  I am trying to locate additional information about an ancestor who was a combmaker in Stockholm in the late 1700s.

« skrivet: 2007-07-28, 21:59 »
My oldest known ancestor, Hans Berggren, was a combmaker in Stockholm in the late 1700s.
Are there any guild records of any kind that might contain information about him?
Does anyone have any ideas of where a combmaker would have lived/worked in Stockholm in the late 1700s?

I am picking up this research again after several years.
I am hoping someone can help with reading and translating this birth record.

I used to use Genline, but this was found using the Ancestry.com interface.  It appears to correspond to GID 2712.37.96900.

This appears to be 17 Oct 1728
Stockholm

General questions / Soldier in Svea Livgarde
« skrivet: 2015-02-22, 23:46 »
A number of years ago, another person on this forum was able to trace a Nils Hansson Bargren (1682-1742) in the muster rolls for Svea Livgarde in Stockholm.  Are these muster rolls available to browse online?  If so, maybe I can get some help in finding and using them.

Thanks,
Art

I was hoping that someone could help me locate Axel Fredrik Petersson (b 1853 in Stjärnorp) in America. He emigrated, along with his wife Lena Gustafva Adamsson (b 1859 in Alseda) and their two young boys; Karl Emil Efraim (b 1877) and Oskar Emanuel (b 1879), on Oct 30th 1880.

Where did he and his wife settle? When did they die? Did they have anymore children?

I hope English is ok here, I don't know any Swedish. Staffan Bengtsson over in the English discussion area suggested I try over here.

I'm trying to determine if the Hans Nilsson Bargren, born 1730 1/4 in Svea Livgardes Grenadjärbataljon, could be the same person as Hans Berggren (his name was spelled Bargren in his first marriage) who was master of the combmakers guild.  Hans Berggren died 1800 27/11 in Katarina parish.  His age of death is listed as 72.  There appears to be another Hans Nilsson Bargren born in Svea Livgardes in 1728, but maybe he died as an infant.  One family story says that Carl Peter Berggren (son of Hans Berggren) was supposed to become a military officer, but instead became a combmaker also.  So a military connection may make sense. All of Hans Berggren's children were baptised in Katarina parish, so I assume he lived within that parish.  I have been unable to determine where Hans Berggren/Bargren was born or his exact birth date.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
