This is a new area for me so hope I'm in the right place. I am very grateful for help. Parents Johan Erik Hedbom and Stina {Kristina} Sundell. Per was born 22 May 1819. Brother Karl Johan born 8 Dec 1822. Sister Stina Ulrika  born 7 Feb 1830. About 7 years with no children seems unusual. When I was searching what I could it was Säter Parish. The father was also supposed be born in this parish in Mar 1794 but I could not find the record. [/size]

Hi Georgina,

It seems that you are right, there are more children. Johan Erik and Stina got married in 1816-12-10 in Säter (Säter EI:3 (1811-1861) Bild 11) As you can notice some of the children died very young.
Children:
Karl Erik 1817-05-27 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 39 d.1817-06-10
Stina Lisa 1818-06-08 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 45 d. 1818-06-30
Per Erik 1819-05-22 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 51
Elisabet Johanna 1820-08-26 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 58 d.1820-10-25
Johanna Maria 1821-08-06 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 64 d.1821-09-06
Karl Johan 1822-12-08 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 73
Lisa Sofia 1826-05-27 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 95 d. 1826-06-14
Lisa Sofia 1827-06-10 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 103 d.1827-09-13
Ulrika Kristina 1830-02-07 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 123, married Johan Sundqvist 1859-10-23.

There is no record of Johan Erik Hedbom in the birthbook, he is the son of Lars Erik Hedbom and Brita Maria Sätersten.
Kristina Elisabet Sundell dies 183103-18 and Johan Erik marries Anna Eriksdotter Sandström 1832 and they have a son
Erik Axel b. 1835-05-05 Säter C:6 (1811-1840) Bild 158.

Have a nice day

Now I saw somewhere else different birth for Johan Erik Hedbom 1784. Would that make a difference to find him in the birth book?
How did you know his parents without finding him in birth book?

I am using "Smedskivan 8" and there it says that he was born in Säter 1794-03-01. It woulden´t make any difference.
You can also find him in DISBYT.

Säter AI:22, p 87 notes plåtsmeden (tinsmith) Johan Erik Hedbom and his family. Same page is noted "Fadren, gamle smeden" (father, old smith) Lars Eric Hedbom, b 1768 in Lindesberg.
In Säter AI:12, p 8, where we first find Lars Eric, it says he was born in Vedevåg, which in fact is in Lindesberg. There is also written that Lars Eric Hedbom and his wife Britta Maria Sätersten (baptisted Maria Britta, Säter C:4, 1761 Nov 24) came from Bjuråker in 1791. Looking at Bjuråker we find their marriage 1789, Febr 08 in C:2, p 18. Their daughter Anna Katarina (later named Kajsa) was born in Hedvigsfors, Bjuråker (X) in 1790 June 19 (C:2, p 204). See also Bjuråker AI:4, p 155, saying that Lars Eric was born in Söderbärke 1768 (sic!).

It seems that the family has moved a lot, typical for some of the smiths, and my conclusion is that Johan Eric was born at a so far unknown place, as he is not in Säter C:5.

Last noted, Lars Eric Hedbom died in Husby 1841 June 21, and was buried there on June 27 (Säter AI:22 and Husby F:6).

I have checked the iron mills in Husby and also the villages around Säter to find Lars Eric Hedbom and family the year 1794, but without result.

Good luck in your search!

Lars Eric Hedbom was born in Vedevåg, Lindesberg (T) on Jan 07 1768. His parents were "mästersmeden" (master smith) Lars Hedbom and his wife Anna Magnidotter. (Lindesberg CI:7, p 315.) Also AIb:1, p 119 Vedevåg. There you can see the birth data for them. (Anna´s patronymika is written Månsdotter in AIb, but Magnus and Måns are different forms of the same name, so do not mind that.)

All for now,
Leif
