I was wondering if I could get some help for the attached pictures below.  I am able to understand most household records in the latter 1800's but not this early.  I am unable to tell the year but know it is between 1742 and 1800.  There are other pages where Bodel is found and I hope any help here will help me translate others.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is from Degeberga Parish, Kristianstads Lån.

Bodel Erlandsson (my 4th Greatgrandfather) is married to Karna Andersdotter.
Bodel was born in 1729 in Slätteberga, Degeberga Parish where he is still living married to Karna.

Can someone assist me as to what else it says related to Bodel?  I don't understand the other notations also listed on these two pages.

Thanks.

Bob

Hi Robert!

First off, this is not household records, but taxation records which may explain why they have caused you trouble. Taxation records are not actually part of parish archives, but for some parishes Arkiv Digital has extracted the taxation records (that can sometimes be rather difficult to find) for a number of years and combined them. The originals can be found in the archive "Kristianstads läns landskontor t o m ca 1900".
The page you're on is from 1778, as indicated by the page number 1778, which remains the same for several pages.

The taxation record is not as detailed as household records; it tells us that Bodel Erlandsson has an unnamed wife, a son called Anders, a daughter called Elna and an "inhyses" woman called Hanna and three children too young to pay taxes living on his farm. These are all recorded in the columns and summed up in the far right column. The headers for the columns and the rest of the taxation records for the härad that year can be found in: Kristianstads läns landskontor t o m ca 1900 EIII:76 (1778-1778)

Erik,

Thank you so much for the quick response.  You opened my eyes and mind to a whole new source of information.

The information you provided on Erland matches what I have in the way of his family members (Erland, Anders, Elna etc...).

I am now researching and learning more on Swedish Taxation and Mantalslängd.  Now I know they only paid taxes if they were between the ages of 15 and 63 and that Soldiers were exempt from paying.

I followed your path for the "Kristianstads läns landskontor t o m ca 1900".  I located the heading information from EIII:76.  I was able to find a couple of websites that explained the headings so I see how you came up with the summation of 8 individuals.

I was not even aware of this information.

I will now be able to go through the other years and have a better idea of what it presents.

I am learning more and more every day.

Thanks again for your response.  Bob
