I am trying to find the ship manifest for the 1906 voyage of Erik Peterson (born October 29, 1859) and his son Johan Albert (born October 4, 1889). They lived in Gullabo. I believe they might have left in February and have spent countless hours looking. If it could be narrowed down to a specific date, that would be helpful. I have found all the other siblings on ship manifests and am putting together a family history document with my Dad. Most of the siblings settled in Two Harbors, MN where I grew up and my Dad has been able to share some memories of them.
Thanks.

Hi Lynette!
Sorry but I don't have the manifests you requested but maybe the dates may offer some help.

According to the local church records the father lived in America in periods but eventually stayed in Gullabo where he died.

Erik Petersson
Born 29 Oct 1859 in Gullabo
Died 07 May 1938 in Gullabo

To America 06 Jul 1888 and returned to Gullabo 16 Aug 1889
To America 17 Jun 1899 and returned to Gullabo 22 Feb 1904
To America 10 Feb 1906 and returned to Gullabo 26 Mar 1910

His wifes son out of wedlock:
Johan Albert Petersson (probably aka John A. Peterson)
Born 04 Oct 1889

To America 13 Feb 1906 a few days after his (step-?)father.

Thank you so much for this information. According to my dad, Johan left Two Harbors, MN for an opportunity in California and was never heard from again. My dad’s grandmother, Gerda, always held out hope he just wanted a new start and was doing well.

Is there any record of Erik Peterson going to America during the years 1893-1895? A family document I have states that he traveled to America four times.
Thank you
Also wanted to say that I finally found Johan Albert on a ship manifest. He is with Erik heading to Two Harbors, MN aboard the SS Saxonia bound for Boston. Thank you! Probably spent 30 hours looking but I refused to give up. I was unsure what surname he used and spent a lot of time looking for Johan Erikson.

That info didn’t show in the regular Census but when I checked the Received/Departed member records I did indeed find him once more! I guess the clerk or the priest taking notes got tired of him going back and forth! So you’re absolutely right!
To America 15 Apr 1893 and returned to Gullabo 01 Oct 1895
I can’t imagine. It’s a lot considering the travel time by boat those days…
I guess he helped his children to establish in Two Harbors. I saw that their departures were spread out over different years.
I checked Findagrave, FamilySearch etc for anything on John A Peterson but couldn’t find anyone born 04 Oct 1889. The name is too common and the death files for California is not that extensive. You might have to consult a Californian genealogist for that. Krgds Erik
