Jonsson, Erik Gustav b1868 Sweden. Emigr 1881

I'm trying to find where my ancestor came from in Sweden.  His name was Erik Gustav Johnson, born 26 Dec 1868 in Sweden.  
It seems that he emigrated to the US in 1881.  
Can you help me find him?

It seems he was only 13 year so he must have somebody to travel with.

He was married in Maple Ridge, Minnesota in 1894 to Jessie Elizabeth Erickson.  They later moved to Modesto/Turlock, California - where he died 21 July 1905.  That's all the information I have.  His death certificate was signed by his father-in-law, August Erickson - who is my great, great, grandfather.

I believe I have found Eric in the US census 1900 with wife Jessie and two children living in Maple Ridge, Insanti.  
 
I had a closer look of the scanned image and it indicates that Eric was 33 years old and if you look carefully, he was actually born in 1866 (although it may be interpreted as 1868) which is in line with the stated age versus the date of the census.

The California, Death Index, 1905-1939 indicates that Erik G Johnson was 37 years when he passed away on July 21, 1905, in other words born in 1867, this is of course IF his date of birth (December 26) is consistent with the truth...

With the sources available for emigrants from Sweden, I have not been able to find any Erik Gustav born on December 26, 1867 or 1868 and with a father namned Johan/Johannes/Jonas/Jöns/Jan nor any Erik Gustav born on the dates given who left Sweden with his father's patronymic, e.g Johansson, Jansson etc.  
 
However, I do find a candidate in the following person;
 
Erik Gustaf Gustafsson (Jönsson), born December 26, 1866 (same year as stated in the 1900 cencus) in Hällestad county, Östergötland.  
 
He emigrates in 1881 from Hällestad together with his parents Gustaf Jönsson and Ulrika Sofia Andersdotter and three brothers. (Source; EmiWeb). Erik Gustaf - together with his brothers - are listed as 'Gustafsson Jönsson', a patronymic and their father's last name. In America it would obviously be more natural that the whole family uses the name 'Johnson'.

Gustaf Jönsson was born June 24, 1833. His wife Ulrika Sofia Andersdotter was born November 13, 1841.  
 
I'm pretty confident that this is the family in the US 1900 census, living in Stanchfield Township, Isanti, Minnesota.

Birth month and year of birth in the census 1900 is consistent for all of them. It also appears that Ulrika has given birth to nine children, of whom five are living. There are four children in this household which means that one (Erik Gustav??) has left the building....

...which leads me to guess this is the youngest brother David, born in 1879 in Sweden living in Turlock, CA with his wife and his father Gustaf Johnson (born in Sweden in or around 1833). Both said to have immigrated in 1881.
