This is my grandfather he left Sweden in 1923 for Canada. He was born in vestermorrlands(westermorrlands)Iam not sure of the spelling.Can anyone please help me and point me in the right direction. thankyou

There is no one with this name in the Emigranten database for the 1920s. It might help if you can give more details, like when he was born, maybe where, known family members etc. How certain is the year 1923 for his emigration?

I have his Passport he was born 16 of dec.1888.
It was stamped the 18 of sept.1923 in sweden and then 1 of Oct 1923 in Hull Canada.I know he had a brother and a sister his name was Gus.I believe he was married to someone in sweden before he came to Canada but not sure.My grandfathers name on the passport is Frans Oskar Vitalis Lundquist.Hope this will help thankyou

Maureen! Take another look at that passport. They  
usually state in which parish a person was born.
If so, this would help enormously.Västernorrlands  
is just the county. Regards

Christina thanks. There is nothing there except where it says born it is Vasternorrlands lau(the u has a line over it).I don't have anything else to go on.My mother wants to know about her dad she knows he was in the army.He worked in the mines here in Canada maybe over there to I don't know.

Frans Oskar Vitalis Lundqvist is to be found on Internet. In the census of 1890 - Folkräkningen 1890 - Västernorrlands län you can see that he and his family at that time lived in Frånö, Gudmundrå parish. The family seems to have lived in Värmland and then in Jämtland before moving to Gudmundrå, as the birth places of the older children indicates.
