Frank Bloom b about 1830

I am researching my grgrandfather Frank Bloom.
the only information I have is that he emigrated to America in the mid 1800's. He married a Swedish woman, Cariline Frier/ Fyre before 1864. my grandfather was born in 1864. Bloom was not his original name, that was Magnasun. Bloom was given to him in the army. He also told his children that he came from the lake country'.Any information would be most appreciated.

Hi, you have to do research on him in American sources!  
 
He must be listed in the 1870, 1880 and perhaps in the 1900 US Census. Depending on where he lived there might also be States censuses between the US ones, that can be helpful.  
 
When did he die? Do you have his death certificate? An obituary? Do you know if he was a member of a local Swedish American church? You have to find out more about him, just a name is not enough. His Swedish name might have been Frans Magnusson Blom, but that is probably no help.  
 
All Sweden is full of lakes, so just the lake country is not enough either.
