Richard Caldwell

Huddinge, Borenas, Ingetorp, Ingelsbo, Lillehem,
Ollsson, Johansson, Bergström, Ericksson

My family emigrated from Sweden and into the
United States and settled in Indiana between the
years of 1867-1900.  Charles ( first name probably
Americanized from Calle or Karl) Ericksson (whose
father was Bergström) and his wife Anna S.
Ericksson brought their children and Charles'
sister with them.  Charles was born in Sweden on
August 11, 1832.  His wife Anna S. Ericksson was
born on January 18, 1833.  (Charles' sister was
probably Albertina Bergström).  Christina
Ericksson was the last of their children born in
Sweden on April 6, 1864, the remainder were born
in the USA.
In approximately 1925, Albertina Bergström made
her fourth and final visit back to Sweden since
she immigrated into the USA.  She took with her a
neice, Annette Fassnacht.  On her visit during
this time, she met with the following kindred
(relatives):
Herr Johansson.  (Charles' cousin).  His home was
Lillehem.  He was tall, slender, distinguished
looking.  His first wife had died and he had since
remarried.  His second wife was much younger than
he.  He owned a farm which had many one-room
cottages for his employees. Lillehem was at the
foot of a hill, at the end of which was once a
lake, so the soil was fertile.  Herr Johansson had
a friend who was a schoolmaster.  The school
master had a wife and young child in 1925.
Ingetorp.  Oscar Ollsson and his wife, Klara
lived here.  He was also Charles' cousin.  Oscar
Ollsson lived in busy little village on the edge
of a lake in a farming district.  He was the
shoemaker for the community.
Huddinge.  The house here was built by Annette's
second cousin as a home for his mother and sister.
His mother was Aunt Albertina's sister.  Hildur
was his sister and Albertina's sister's daughter.
Hildur's brother worked for the queen.  Hildur's
brother was August.  August's wife was Elisabeth
and his daughter was Hildur.  His son was Helge.
August worked at an iron foundry.  Helge worked at
a confectioners and Hildur worked at a department
store.
Friends:  Fru Anne was daughter of Fru Augusta
who was married to August.  Anne lived at
Ingelsbo.  Anne's husband was Karl.  August and
Augusta had 3 sons and a daughter besides Anne.
Elise and her husband lived at Borenas.  Anders
was Augusta's youngest son.
There are now many descendents of the Swedes
living throughout all of the USA.  Tradition and
interest in Sweden has been maintained.
