Robert Goranson

Hello again,

I have looked many times on Ancestry.com in their Census records of 1910 for Nils Alfred Göransson (Nels Alfred Goranson).

Nels came over from Sweden in 1907 and was headed to Janesville, Wisconsin according to the Ship's Manifest.  In 1920 he was found living in Duluth, Minnesota and in 1930 living in Lake Sarah, Minnesota.

I just found out about the following: 1910 Scandinavians in the U.S. Federal Census and is published by Heritage Quest.

Nels was baptised in Rockford, Illinois in 1908.
So I assume he was living in the Wisconsin or Illinois area at the time.  Possibly but doubtful in Minnesota.

If anyone has this CD and has time for a look up, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your time.

Bob

Hello,
Just happened to see your question and would like to reply even though I cannot help you looking up anything as I do not have the record.
But, I have a great deal of Goransons in my research and also some connection with Rockford. Therefore I would be interested in knowing if we have something in common. Do you know from where in Sweden he came?
Friendly greetings, Monica Keynemo.

I forgot to mention that Nels was 26 years old in 1910.

Bob

Monica, Nels son of Göran Persson, came from Torpa Parish, Kronobergs Län.  Nels had a brother named Otto that came over and lived in Seattle.  There was no children from Otto and his wife Anna.  No other chldren of Göran Persson came to America.  One other brother of Nels, Anders Johann, stayed in Sweden.

Have you been to the DisByt website?  You can find my Swedish tree online there.  My number is 24669.  Take a look and let me know if you see a connection or email me.

Bob,
I just saw your posting. I have the 1910 CD in question, but could not find Nels on it. Unfortunately, the surname could have been grossly misspelled, which happened often. I did find him in the WWI Draft Registration in 1918.
Nels Alfred Goranson, Siren, Burnett, WI. Born 6 Oct 1885, Sweden, minister of Swedish Baptist Congregation. Wife Hilda Marion Gorenson, Rt#1, Siren, WI.
I see by the 1920 census, he is widowed. In 1930, he is remarried to Ellen and has 3 children under 10.
I found him returning to the US on one of his trips and it states he was in the US before from 1907-1922 in Wisconsin. Also, on that 1907 emigration record you said he was going to Janesville, WI. The only Nels Goranson I saw in 1907 was going to Minneapolis to friend Mr. A. Lindquist.

Hi I am asking for a census lookup and anything else that can be done to find information on my father who became a butcher in Sweden or Denmark and then a race car driver. Between 1893 I think and 1916 or 1910.
Can you help me wth Census or the police signout of Sweden or whatever.

he was a racer car driver, probably in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and France, and may be also in Great Britain. In Germany he should have been sponsored by a steam ship compagny. Once he won a race, in his last race The co-driver or engineer was killed, and Gustaf himself was hurt, Maybe that made him finish racing, and it was maybe shortly afterwards, that he went to the USA.

This is my fathers detailed info.
Andreas Gustav Emanuel Olofsson born 8/27/1878 in Markaryd Goparish, County G Smoland, Kronoberg Lan, Sweden
My father used these names in USA:
Gust Olofsson
Andreas Gustav Emanuel Olofsson
Gustav Olofsson
Gustav Andrew Olofsson

From the CDs Swedens Population 1890 and ...1900 you can find these persons in Markaryd parish, Kronobergs län, Småland. The family lived 1890 at Göshult Södregård (the name meaning the southern farm in the hamlet Göshult) and 1900 in Ängadal (a farm), both situated in the parish of Markaryd.

Hi Erick and Lars
Andreas Gustaf Emanuel mentioned above was born in 1878 on the 27 of august so it seems to be your father and his family.

Here on line 66 in Markaryd C:3 p 102, the book of births in Markaryd parish 1870-1894, you can see the original notations of you fathers birth and christening. You will also find the names of his parents and the place where they lived, the mothers age and the names of the godfathers and godmorhers.

Erick!

I did follow the family in the hh records and in the A II aa/3 1895-1899 - SVAR Pic 00071684_00009 it says Maria Kristina emigrated to Amerika oct 15 1897.

So The Emigranten record seems to be the correct one!
