Donald G. Olson

I am searching for ancestors and descendants of my cousin, Annie Dahlquist. I lost track of her in the 1970's. She was born in Stockholm and graduated from the local teachers college circa 1942 and was married. She taught remedial reading into the 1960's at Eriksdalsskolorna School, Stockholm and is the author of Las-Och Skrivsvarigheter (215-217) and (223-225). At that time, she resided at 1968 Nockeby Kyekuag 48-58 Beomma. lived gho therekbmarr

Many thanks for this information. I do have signed copies of both books! Do either indexes you cite disclose her spouse, ancestors or descendants?

The Söder CD lists this Annie Gunhild. Söder doesn't have the capability of copying/pasting information. Here are some tidbits for you, since there is too much to copy in total and since it is only in Swedish.

page 1:

father: Carl Olsson, born 25 June 1860 in Saxtorp, Malmöhus län

wife: Hilda Carolina Olsson, born 10 January 1863 in Söderbärke (Malingsbo, Kopparbergs län) and died 22 June 1897.

wife: Lovisa Olsson /Jonasdotter/, born 14 October 1867 in Nor, Värmlands län

barnhusbarn (child from a birthing center??; someone else's child): Esther Margareta Davida, born 3 April 1886 in Kungsholm or Ulrika Eleonora, Stockholms stad

daughter: Annie Gunhild Olsson, born 16 January 1901 in Maria Magdalena, Stockholms stad.

page 2:

this page has Carl, Lovisa and Annie Gunhild

page 3: same as page 2

page 4: same as page 2, but with the addition that she married H.F. Dahlquist, postexp.bbe (I don't understand the part after his name.) The wedding date isn't listed, but she went off to Lidingö, Stockholms län on 19 December 1921.

Here is a guess for the person who married Annie Gunhild Olsson. She headed to Lidingö in 1921. This person died there and was married in 1920. The record doesn't say where he was born, however.

There are other nameless possibilities, of course, but that location stood out among the others.

Judy,
Truly overwhelming. Many, many thanks for your efforts.
Annie was at my house in 1952, while conducting research in America in behalf of her government. Her uncle (my grandfather), was married (somewhere) to a Hoganas native but that side of our family has become a major brick wall for me. One of the several family members who emigrated did get married in the U.S. and a copy of that document is in process, which should reopen many doors.  Again, many thanks. Donald

Perhaps providing details on that uncle will help you break through that brick wall. What was his name? What side of Annie's family (mother or father) was he from? When was he born? Did he emigrate? When/where? Who was his wife? Do you have any other details about her besides Höganäs?

It is often much easier to research before 1900 than after 1900. :-)

Oh, where do I start! .
Annie's father Carl had a little brother Peter (my grandfather) b. 21/9 1865, also in Saxtorp. In 29/6 1889, Peter received his Kapitulation from the Royal Artillery. He emigrated to America 12/7/1893, went to Eureka, California and returned to Sweden 30/4 1899 (when I assume he was to be married)according to his (new) Flytiningbetyg issued a year later in Lyby (now Skane). The 'brick wall uncle' is Edvin S Werolin, b. 13/3/1883 in Hoganas (per the IGI)emigrated to NY in 1902, m. 1906 in NYC to Lydia Wickander. Their marriage certificate should disclose ancestors and is in process of duplication.  His sister, my grandmother, Sophia Maria (Mia) b.9/4/1867, was his sponsor to America. Their father may have been an Eriksson. Where Mia was born is as yet undisclosed as was her emigration and marriage detail. Edvin and Mia were two of nine children of which only brother Herman had also emigrated (to S . Dakota). Those who remained were Albin, Alfhild, Anna, Carl, Nanny and Rut. Their father may have been Anders Gustaf Eriksson and their mother, Caroline Lindblom. I have just about exhausted my knowledge/resources here Judy.  How can I help you more?

Uncle Edvin was born in Höganäs, but Väsby parish, according to  DDSS (Demographic Database for Southern Sweden). His full name was Edvin Severin and he was the 5th child of Anders Gustaf Eriksson and Sofia Albertina Lindblom, No. 32 Höganäs. They were married in 1875. I cannot find Mia's birth, so she was probably not born in Höganäs or Väsby.

Apparently Sofia Albertina died before 1890, because 22/1/1890 Anders Gustaf Eriksson married Christina Lindblom, born 21/6/1857. Anders Gustaf was born 14/2/1845, also according to DDSS (the Marriage records). They had two children:
Carl Erik Wilhelm, born 6/4/1890
Nancy Astrid Carolina, born 6/8/1892
Both born in Väsby parish, Höganäs No. 29.

Donald,
This is what I found out about Sofia Maria.

Using the information you gave above, I localized Sofia Maria and her family in Väsby parish in Malmöhus län prov. Skåne husförhörslängd/household examination roll 1882-1899, volume AI:24, p 1340, Höganäs No XXX

In the somewhat cluttered picture your find several things, starting from the top:
Line 1. Anders Gustaf Eriksson died on March 4, 1898, he was married on Feb 28, 1875 to Sofia Albertina Lindblom who you find on line 2. She died on Nov 30, 1888 and AG Eriksson was remarried on Jan 22, 1890 to Christina Carolina Lindblom whose name you find below Sofia Albertinas.
From line 3 and downwards you find AGs and Sofia Albertinas children.
Gustaf Emil b Jul 27, 1874 and died on Nov 17, 1890
Albin Ernst b Dec 21, 1875
Anna Emelina b Jul 27, 1877
Carl William Herman b Jun 14, 1881
Edvin Severin b Mar 13, 1883
Carl Erik Wilhelm b Apr 6, 1890
Nancy Astrid Carolina b Aug 6, 1892
Agnes Alfhild Carolina b Nov 2, 1895
Ruth Octavia Carolina b May 12, 1897 on line 14
Since Sofia Albertina Lindblom died in 1888, the four youngest children obviously belongs to AG Erikssons second marriage to Christina Carolina Lindblom.

On line 12 you find your Sophia Maria or, rather, Maria Sofia Lindblom Eriksson b Apr 9, 1867 in Stockholm. It says further to the right, which not is included in the picture, that she moved to Stockholm in 1886. It is also noted that she is fosterdotter, a foster-daughter.

The family moved to Höganäs in Väsby parish from Malmö S:t Petri parish in 1880 and here is a picture from Väsby household examination roll 1872-1881, volume AI:20, p 1015.

When the family moves from Malmö, Anders Gustaf Eriksson is not noted together with his wife and children and I was not able to find them in the examination roll for S:t Petri parish for that year. However, searching for the birth of their first child, Gustaf Emil, I did manage to find Sofia Albertina Lindblom and her son as well as Maria Sofia Malmö S:t Petri household examination roll 1871-1875, volume AI:215 p 303:

Here it says that Maria Sofia is oä dr, oäkta dotter, or born out of wedlock and that she is Barnhusb. N. 12133, Barnhusbarn N. 12133, or orphanage-child No 12133. Her birth place is Klara parish in Stockholm.

From the excerpts of the birth records of Klara parish, you find that it is stated that Maria Sofias parents are unknown, Okända -you find her as No XXX

There are, however, a database with the children from Allmänna Barnhuset in Stockholm, where I suspected that Maria Sofia could be found and you find an image of her record here: http://www.ssa.stockholm.se/Forskarsalen/Aspdb/allmbarnhus/katalog2/12133.jpg
And here you see at the top that Maria Sofias number is 12133, which was found in Malmö S:t Petri household examination roll, vol AI:215 above. She was born on Apr 9, 1867 and baptized on the 12 the same month in St Clara Klara parish. It also says that her mother is Sofia Albertina Lindblom and, further below, that she moved to AG Eriksson in Malmö S:t Petri parish on Jul 1, 1874 as well as to Höganäs.

Unfortunately, I cant help you with the name of Maria Sofias father but maybe someone else who is better acquainted to searching for barnhusbarn might be able to help you there.

Her mother, Sofia Albertina Lindblom, was born in Strängnäs on Aug 19, 1843 which you can see on the pictures above.

Best regards, Lars Å
