I am a researcher on the Australian SBS Television history series WHO DO YOU
THINK YOU ARE?

The documentary series follows the ancestry of well known Australians.

Further details about the program can be found at:
http://www.sbs.com.au/shows/whodoyouthinkyouare/episodes/page/season/1

I am currently researching an ancestor by the name of Johann Peterson who
was born in about 1840 in Christianstad, Sweden. He worked on ships and
emigrated to Australia before the 1870s.  His father was John Peterson and
his mother Cefsa Jansen.

I was wondering if there was anyone in your network of genealogical
societies who may have already started some research on Johann and his
family. We are looking for documents, certificates, photos or any other
material that will give us a clue to the sort of life Johann and his family
had in Sweden.

Any suggestions or information you would be able to provide would be greatly
appreciated.

With many thanks and kind regards,

Kirrilly Brentnall

As this matter has been sorted out during the spring and summer of 2011, I can tell that the emigrant searched for was Jöns Persson b. 1836 in Tosteberga, Trolle-Ljungby parish, Kristianstad county. Furthermore, it happened to be a distant relative of mine, who left Sweden in 1864.
