I'm looking at GID 992.14.25200 and wondering if I can determine when the first wife died, and also what's the second wife's last name?

Thanks!!

Scott!

The second wife Kjersti Eriksdotter has communion notes from 1774. I believe the mark for his first wife in 1778 is a clerical mistake.
And I believe I found Maria Svensdotter in the death book at GID 992.30.75800. She died February 13 1774 from svullsjuka - svull = swollen.
The age 45 corresponds with the 1774-1730. And the place is correct.
However I did not find any wedding 1774 ...

Olle

Have you checked the husband's name? in 1774-1778 (GID 992.14.25200) it looks like Sven Svensson, but in earlier HFL volumes Sven Eriksson.

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, I did check and noticed the different last name.  I just guessed that it was an error.  Do you think that it's different people?

Probably a copying error, it is after all the same first name and birth year, and married to the same wife.

That's what I thought.

You also mentioned, The second wife Kjersti Eriksdotter has communion notes from 1774  What do you mean by communion notes?  Was that a rite that proceded marriage?  Sorry to be so ignorant!

Thanks for all of your help!!

Scott!
According to the strict clerical edicts at that time each individual was supposed to take the holy sacraments at least once a year. And if so, it was duly noted in the household records. Mostly with a cross. These can also be used as an indicator e.g. the time/year of death during the time span of one book. In the above example Kjersti enters the household in 1874 when her communion is noted.
You can use the search window to the left and search for communion and get more information.
