Professor Helmers Called To His Rest. Demise of a Well-Known Musician at the Ripe Age of Seventy-Seven Years. Nils S. Helmers, a well known musician of this city, died last Tuesday at the age of 77 years and his remains were interred on Thursday at Laurel Hill Cemetary. Deceased was a native of Sweden and came to this country in 1851. He located in Cavaleras County and followed placer mining for a number of years with varying success. Thirty years ago he came to this city and resided here until his death. In this city he followed the musical profession and endeared himself to a host of friends. Professor Helmers took a keen interest in municipal affairs and was a lover of arts and the sciences. He is survived by a widow and three sons who reside in San Francisco.
