Would someone please do an 1890 Census look-up for me? I am looking for Olaf Alfred BROSTROM. I have very little information. He possibly lived in Overlulea Parish in County Norbotten, or he lived in Nysatra Parish in County Vasterbotten lan. Olaf was my husband's grandfather, and since Olaf's son was born in 1908, I'm thinking that maybe Olaf was born around 1880.  
 
Incidentally, is there a 1910 census that is searchable? It would be interesting to find my father-in-law Emil Joseph BROSTROM b.1908. He was living in Overlulea when he emigrated to Canada in 1927.

The 1890 census for Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Jämtland, Västernorrland and Värmland counties is freely available at  http://www.foark.umu.se/census/Index.htm
 
One complication is that hildren are not registered with family names, so you have to check all families named Broström and look for sons named Olof Alfred. (Olof is the Swedish form, Olaf is Norwegian).
 
I did not see any Olof Alfred in any of the Broström families in Norrbotten or Västerbotten. Perhaps the family moved there later than 1890, or they took the name Broström later than 1890, or...
 
Maybe someone with access to Arkion can help you check the 1890 and 1900 cencus.

Many thanks for the effort you have put in to obtaining all this wonderful information for me. It was a lovely surprise to see it all!
 
(I got lost trying to find my way back to the this message board. I've also posted to another message board on this website, but I can't find THAT message at all!)
 
I know my way around the IGI fairly well, so I'd found a Lars Olof Brostrom, who had a son Alfred Brostrom in 1871 in Norbotten. I had a feeling that Lars Olof and Alfred were somehow related to Olof Alfred Brostrom...but didn't know how. Now I do!  
 
My husband was absolutely in awe when he saw all this information. I'm going to be charting it, and entering it on PAF. I may have a few translation questions at some point. Would it be ok to pose those questions on this message board, or should I choose another general board?

I found that by searching for Brostrom (not Broström) in Sök i hela Rötter on the left side of the page. There were only a few hits and it was easy to find yours.

How clever! I don't have that ö on my computer. When I first searched the Disbyt, it told me there were no Brostroms! So then I copied and pasted the name Broström from someone's message and got 55 names!

I am hoping to add some children's names to my family tree, but since the above couple was married in 1856, the children may have all moved out by 1890.

I suppose your Johan Anders Broström is this Johan Andersson Broström. He was born in the right parish, although that parish was spelled in the old way. He was widowed. The girl labeled as sister was far too young to be his sister, so I suppose she was sister to the son. Click on each name to get their details.
