I am looking for the date of death for my 4th great-grandfather, Petter Svensson. His wife Elin Olofsdotter died in 1809. Petter still appeared in household examination rolls until 1810-1814. In 1814-1820, he is crossed out and död is noted. I searched Genline records from 1810-1820 and can't find him, According to all the household rolls I checked he was born in 1751. I found a few Petter Svensson's, but they were all too young, not widowed and not in Ö Tång. Another question, under place of birth, it looks like Augrum or Allgrum. Where is that? Thank you for any help. Karen

Which parish and county? Do you have GID numbers or other volume identification, for where you have found him in the church books?

The mystery birth place could perhaps be Augerum or Asarum in Blekinge, Algutsrum in Kalmar, or Allerum in Malmöhus county.

Bo,
Parish household rolls from Öfra Tång, Kristianopel, Blekinge. Elin Olofsdotter's death GID 1763.19.48600 shows Petter still alive in 1809. Petter still shows in the next household roll in 1810-1814.The next one he is crossed out. Their marriage GID 1763.19.57800 shows Elin from Hallersboda, but I couldn't make out Petter's place. Thanks for all the help you've given me. I really appreciate it. Karen

But I see Petter Svensson at no. 104 Öfre Tång in the 1815-1820 HFL page 64 (GID 1763.31.20400), and 1820-1824 (GID 1763.33.57800), where he dies.

The placename in the marriage record I think is Öfre Tang, that is Övre Tång spelled with a instead of å.

And the birth parish is most probably Augerum.

Thank you, Bo. I guess I'll have to go back and look at those death records again. I searched 1810-1820, but maybe I missed him or have to go abit further to at least 1824. I went to Augerum to look for his birth record, but they don't go back far enough. I have the year from the household rolls. Karen

Gårdmannen, literally the farm man.

According to SAOB (the official historic dictionary of the Swedish language), it is a title used in southern Sweden, particularly in Blekinge. It means a man who owns a farm, or is a retired farmer on a pension agreement (undantag). In this case, probably the last alternative.

There is an Augerum births/deaths volume for 1695-1754, births 1751 start at 1623.14.73700.

Hello, Karen!

Peter Svensson, d.18/1 1821 in Övre Tång and was buried 28/1.

Peter Svensson?s father was Sven Andersson, d.10/5 1811 in Övre Tång, Kristianopel. In the husförhörslängd from 1789 it says that Sven Andersson is the father.

Sven Andersson?s wife Maria, d.19/1 1807 in Övre Tång.

I'm in a state of confusion right now. The Sven Andersson and Maria could not be the parents of my Petter Svensson. I looked at those death records, Sven Andersson was 94 when he died, putting his DOB abt 1717. Maria was abt 90 at death, again putting DOB abt. 1717. Petter was born in 1751, that would make Maria 66. I found 2 different Sven Andersson in the household rolls for Ö. Tång. The second one was married to an Anna, he was 60 in 1802-1804, Anna was 41. Neither of those fit a child born in 1751.
The GID: 1763.40.74800 adds more confusion. The Petter Svensson, age 64, has 2 of the correct children, Ingar and Maria, but his age doesn't fit the 1751 birth year. I know these ages were not always completely accurate. GID:1763.19.57800 shows the marriage of Petter Svensson and Elin Olofsdotter.
I searched those Augerum births that are in the Moving-in/Moving-out book, no wonder I didn't see them, and I couldn't find a Petter Svensson born 1751 there.
I'm confused!

Mea culpa! I guess I shouldn't be around my computer when I'm tired. Obviously I lose the ability to subtract. I went back, looked at all the household rolls from 1789 to 1824, and of course you're correct in your facts. Don't know how I came up with 66 on Maria. My apologies for my error. Thank you again. Karen
